I run a variety of different workshops:
-
Community projects
-
"Tree of Life" project
-
Residencies
-
School groups
-
Studio tours at Gasworks
-
Specifically designed workshops for people of all ages and ability
Formats and outcomes are flexible. Most people feel a deep sense of achievement in creating a finished piece, but the act of "doing" also brings out the creative spirit and gets people in touch with abilities they didn't know they had:
-
Playing with clay
-
Ceramic murals (groups can work together combining their pieces to create a mural)
-
Making a suffragist sculpture
-
Paint a plate or simply" have a go" workshops.
Prices vary depending on location, number of participants and scope, for example, glazing and firing. To discuss a workshop idea simply email me with what you have in mind and what you would like to achieve and we can take it from there.
Testimonials
" Ursula has a beautiful way, not just of creating art, but of being with people. Her gentleness and capacity for inclusion ensures that people of all backgrounds and abilities are welcomed and feel safe enough to give ceramic art making a go."
Michaela Olijnyk (Former Arts and Recreation Officer JCAAA) Artistic Project Manager, Team Leader Arts Access Victoria 2009
" Ursula's wealth of experience and creative input and guidance meant that we journeyed together through the creative process in trust, faith and true collaboration, which allowed the work to be developmental and evolutionary."
"Ursula was always flexible, adaptive and sensitive in her guidance, catering to the different needs of our community including language barriers, mixed ages - including children, and people with physical, behavioral" and intellectual disabilities."
Gill Knight (Project Worker Disabilities) & Helen Boots (Team Leader, Family Services) MacKillop Family Services 2009
"Ursula is a ceramic inspiration, during the annual Story Festival held here at Gasworks Arts Park; she held ceramics workshops involving children and their parents in making amazing clay statues. During the 2007 festival Ursula helped 300 attendees to make an original art work they could take home. We are very lucky to have her as a resident artist here at Gasworks."
Sherridan Green, Creative Producer Gasworks Arts Park 2009
"I was so inspired by the Tree of Health that we made at Brighton University recently that I used it as an idea for a creative group I ran during my last placement at a medium secure hospital for women".
Mandy Pittman, Occupational Therapy Student UK 2007
"Thank you, Ursula, for teaching which encouraged and enabled. You have generously given me the sense that I could do much more with clay and glazes."
Hillary Ash, Workshop Participant 2005
"Thank you for working with us on our mural to celebrate the Year of the Out Back. We thought it was exciting, imaginative and inspiring learning experience, making us aware of the colours and creatures of our beautiful land. We found your dedication and enthusiasm contagious. Look at what we achieved together".
